Spring Honeybee Hive Management
This class will be the perfect opportunity for people that just have an interest in bees, new or established beekeepers, and gardeners! We will prepare you for acquiring bees while learning about bee friendly plants needed to keep your garden and apiary buzzing all year long. Join us as we give you hands on experience in developing an amazing on-site bee garden. We will be jumping in on the ground level to get an actual bee garden in the ground! Students will learn to assemble their own hive, and learn what is involved in successfully managing a bee colony at home. Class will demonstrate sustainable management, including swarm control, disease control, preparing for a honey harvest, study in detail correct handling procedures at all stages of the hive’s summer cycle. 4 weeks

Living Sustainable with Bees
This hands-on workshop is for anyone interested in bees, hobbyists, and established beekeepers. Students will learn to assemble hives, prepare for acquiring bees and learn skills to successfully manage your own bee colony at home. Gain an understanding of the honeybee as one of the more important contributors to our agricultural landscape. Discover sustainable beekeeping, without using antibiotics or chemical compounds for pest and disease control. Included in this dynamic class outline: discussions on bee biology, honeybee pests and diseases, beekeeping equipment, and methods for building up a new colony. Through open-hive inspections students will have an opportunity to become comfortable handling bees and learn via our hands-on approach to living sustainably with bees. 4 weeks
