CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT (CNA) PROGRAM

CNA - Become a certified nursing assistant.
Be an efficient, caring member of a health care team!

Interest participants can choose from an intensive morning/afternoon program or an evening/weekend program of study. Program schedules will vary according to the plan of study you choose, available space and CNA Program Coordinator recommendations.

Requirements: Prior to starting the class all students will be required to take and pass a standard comprehensive reading test, be fingerprinted, and have a medical exam and TB test. Students must complete state exam for certificate.

Financial Assistance may be availabe if you qualify. Contact Workforce Napa at 259-8139 or the State Department of Rehabilitation at 253-4924 before enrolling in the program.

JOB SKILLS AND COMPUTER LITERACY

Upgrade your computer skills and learn to manage in the "e-world."

The Labor Market Information Division recently shared the skills required for the top growth occupations across industries which include: reading, problem-solving, basic skills, people skills, and teamwork among others. Computer literacy (the ability to use computers and technology efficiently) is becoming an essential component in the workforce. This program will offer two-week modules. These modules can be taken independently or in conjunction with other NVAE courses. The entire sequence is strongly recommended. Certificates upon successful completion.

Topics will include: Basic Skills (math, reading, and writing), Teamwork (learn techniques for good communication, negotiation, and problem-solving), Computer Basics (introduction to computers), MS Office Basics (learn the basics of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), Email (set up an account, check and send emails, send attachments and e-resumes), Internet (use the internet for job searches and research among other things).

Instructional Assistant - No Child Left Behind

Train to be an instructional assistant in the Napa Valley Unified School District.  Gain a basic understanding of the role and responsibilities required to assist classroom instructors including disability awareness and autism, health information, positive behavioral support, instructional practice, and classroom procedures for a positive environment.  A certificate of completion will be awarded upon successfully completing the course.  For more information, please call 253-3594. Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Technician Training Program

Napa Valley Adult Ed, in collaboration with Boston Reed is offering a 27-week Pharmacy Tehnician Training Program. The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist with mixing and packaging prescriptions, maintaining client records, referring clients to the pharmacist for counseling, assisting with inventory control and purchasing, as well as collecting payment and coordinating billing. Classroom: 182 hours. Externship: 120 hours. Pre-registration with Boston Reed College is required. Prices are subject to change.

Clinical Medical Assistant

Clinical Medical Assistant Training Program

Prerequisite: 18 yrs. of age - H.S. diploma or GED recommended
Napa Valley Adult Ed, in collaboration with Boston Reed is offering a 20-week Clinical Medical Assistant Training Program. The Clinical Medical Assistant works in the back office and assists the physician with procedures, cares for patients, performs simple laboratory tests and administers medications.
