BUILDING & CONSTRUCTION TRADES

Students will learn the essential knowledge and skills that are needed to work in an entry level construction job. Learn practical math, such as decimals, fractions, and construction geometry, that includes angles, shapes, area and volume, circumference and radius. Students will learn safety guidelines to identify, predict, prevent and stop potential hazards in the workplace. Learn how to use and maintain hand tools, power tools and pneumatic tools. Learn about the materials used in construction with an emphasis on framing and structural elements of building. Finally, students will learn how to read construction drawings by reviewing actual architectural plans and structural plans. Orientation is required.
